This will be one to remember. 12 student limit. Portfolio required. One scholarship for a talented emerging Puerto Rican photographer .Each student will be working on their own assignment and I will be shooting as well for my book BeachGames. I've found my best workshops are when I'm shooting alongside students. Daily critique of what students shot the day prior is a mainstay in an effort to build a tight photo essay. The narrative form so needed by emerging photographers who are desperately seeking personal style and authorship. The only way to rise above all the visual noise that bombards us daily. We will make work prints daily so we can play with both sequencing and overall flow and substance. With both students and me doing this simultaneous it creates what I call positive pressure. Under the right types of pressure we all do our best . This is not a "hot tub" workshop. We work. I'm a results oriented person albeit always starting with a dream. So each photographer grows in their own way. And after all the work of course there's always a big student slide show in front of an assembled audience from the local art scene ..Yes yes a DAH style fiesta explodes after the final show . A sweet reward. Honestly I'm too busy to do very many workshops. And I can't teach if I'm not making my own books , doing my own commissions. That now experience is precisely what I have to offer.
