Photo by @shonephoto (Robbie Shone) - Perched on a triangular shaped aluminium platform, several hundred feet above the floor of the great chamber in El Cenote (cave) in the Italian Dolomites, the laser scanning team carry out one final scan of the upper section of the giant shaft. From my lofty position a little ways above, I watch with bated breath as they carefully fix into position the very expensive high precision instrument, without dropping anything. The 3D scan from up here will tie in nicely with the 12 scans taken from the floor.
