In the main public square of Jacmel, a beautiful small city on the southern coast of Haiti, young men gather each afternoon to play soccer for amusement after work or school. Photo by @fotokonbit student Douze, 20. As in so many Caribbean, South American and other nations, soccer is huge for Haitians. Besides their own national team Haitians are also big fans of Brazilan teams as well. Residents gather every afternoon to watch these matches until the sun sets and the players go home. The main square, which was heavily damaged in the 2010 earthquake that struck the tiny nation, is surrounded by newly restored houses and buildings with architecture typical of Jacmel. This town had a thriving merchant class in its heyday, made wealthy with the export of coffee. Today it is called the city of artists. Wilky's photo is an outtake from a story on Haiti as seen by Haitians shot by Fotokonbit students for @ナショナルジオグラフィック in the December issue of National Geographic Magazine.
