After two winters of cougar research involving noninvasive sampling on Yellowstone National Park's Northern Range, genetic data and remote camera imagery suggests a healthy presence of this top predator in the park. Along with wolves and bears, these species collectively make today's Yellowstone ecosystem as rich in large carnivores as has been seen in over 100 years - a true testament to successful conservation programs. With the winter snows now falling, researchers are preparing to embark on another season of exploration into the multi-carnivore and predatory-prey dynamics of the Northern Range of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
