A first project of its kind has come to Yellowstone: powering an off-grid site at the Lamar Buffalo Ranch by repurposing hybrid vehicle batteries. The Lamar Buffalo Ranch, an environmental education campus, had long been powered by diesel and propane generators to conduct field research, until @toyotausa developed this nearly silent solution to provide for the ranch’s energy needs while reducing noise and emissions. The success of this project is just the beginning. With millions of hybrid vehicles on the road today, the potential benefits from repurposing their used batteries seems limitless.
