Grateful to be invited to see The Autumn Dance Performance of Geiko-san at their special theater. As my family tradition, I used to practice Japanese classic dance since I was 3 yrs old for 20 years. Music, choreography, hair, makeup, vivid colors, bold graphics of kimono and stage design, every elements reminiscent of my childhood with 5 senses. It's amazing to realize how I remember such details of childhood experiences while I easily forget things from yesterday.
先斗町の芸妓さんらの秋のおどりの会へお呼ばれしました。実はわたし、意外と思われますが、3歳で仕舞 (能) の初舞台を踏み、日舞を20年ほどお稽古していたのです。古典演目のおどりを観るのは久しぶりでしたが、母が踊った長唄「藤娘」や大好きな常磐津「釣女」は唄もお囃子も思いのほか覚えており、大胆な色とデザインが織りなす舞台、幼少期〜思春期の記憶と影響ってすごいなあと思いました。今は昨日のこともすぐ忘れるのにね。
