This is a ratsnake #Pantherophis.......
I'm working on a series of #snakes photographing them for my #evolution book. There are more than 3,000 #species of snakes in the world and there is at least one type of snake on every continent except Antarctica. The fossil record remains incomplete, they are fragile and thus are not as well preserved as other animals. The #fossils that have been found in Africa & South America date back to 125 million years. @Robert Clark @thephotosociety
