After a pretty quiet hurricane season thus far, the #Atlantic basin is looking more alive with #Joaquin and a second area of interest associated with the remnants of #Ida. Joaquin strengthened to a Category 1 #Hurricane this morning, while roughly 580nm South-Southeast of Cape Hatteras, NC. Swell from Joaquin will mix with the already well established and prolonged windswell/swell hitting the #EastCoast right now. Unfortunately, it may also pose a threat to land in the longer range, as the current NHC forecast has Joaquin tracking northerly after 48 hours. HOWEVER, confidence in the track forecast is low right now and a wide range of outcomes is possible, making it way too early to know specifics about possible land impacts it could have.
