The Jasmund Park in the northeast of Germany is famous for its chalk cliffs up to 161 meters above the Baltic Sea. Due to the friable nature of the chalk, the beech forest behind the cliffs, is constantly moving and the trees in the front row are bound to fall. Walking on the beach was impressive and the sound of the wind through the trees make me always feel in danger. It is for sure the right place to be inspired about the fragility of the environment. In fact the nature reserve inspired many of the German romantics, writers and painters like Caspar David Friedrich. German's love for the nature is certainly one of the most important motivation in their energy revolution, nearly 80% of Germans view themselves as environmentalists and the environment is always on top of the politic agenda. They are fighting against climate change to preserve places like this and leave a better world for their kids. Could Germany be a right example for the rest of the world ?
