Hello September! Hurricane Linda rapidly intensified Saturday night and is now a large, cat 2 storm with 85kt wind within the SoCal swell window. Model guidance is in good agreement that Linda will strengthen further in the next 12-18 hours while maintaining a favorable track to the NW. Linda is a large storm, which is great for swell production and does not appear to be a direct threat to Baja at this time (other than sizeable surf for the next couple/few days). We expect to see good size SE/SSE swell build on Wed and continue into the second half of the week for Southern California. Last year’s Hurricane Simon is a pretty good analog for this event. Simon was stronger than Linda is forecast to be, and held that strength further north, but tracks are very similar and the size of each tropical cyclone is also comparable.
