I bought a house and, having no time or desire to really decorate, I asked my mom to come help. She's the fancy one. My mother's motto when it comes to my taste has always been "who cares what you want?" And while she did an insanely fantastic job of getting it all in order, the one thing I said was "I don't need new sheets in the guest room. It is seldom used and we can use old sheets from another bed. They are in great condition and no use buying brand new sheets for a bed no one will sleep in." She said ok, absolutely. Then? last night, after 2 weeks abroad, I came home to find brand new sheets still in their packaging in the guest room and my old sheets were out on the balcony... Covering the patio furniture. That's what Blanche is sitting on now. "Who cares what you want" will be the name of my autobiography.
In other news? I wanted sort of a contemporary feel to the house, my adjectives were "cold and sterile" but I was eventually talked into buying a rug. However, my decorative objectives were validated when my friend Michael came over yesterday and, unprovoked, said my house decor reminded him of "Robert De Niro's beachfront house at the beginning of Heat, when he sets his gun down like it's a set of keys, like he's a normal person." Awesome. Enjoy mint condition old sheets, Bebo. It's what Nana wants! (Also yes, my feet are in there because some of you are pervy and I figured, why not)
