Photo by @shonephoto (Robbie Shone) - Water-filled crevasses on the surface of East Greenland's outlet glaciers fill enormously and form a giant lake. Every summer surface meltwater enters in the crevasses and forces the crevasses to penetrate deeper, which eventually results in higher calving rate and faster melting. This photograph was taken recently, as part of the @negreenland_caves climate research expedition supported by the National Geographic Committee for Research and Exploration.
