Photo by @ciriljazbec / Europe has been hit by a heat wave and many people went looking for a way to cool down over the weekend. In the far west of Slovenia, there’s the Natisone river, famous for its Napoleon’s bridge.
Due to its rarity and incredible construction, the bridge is an important architectural landmark and a connection to the past. It bears Napoleon’s name because it was built during the time of his conquests and intended to be crossed by his forces on their way from Veneto to the territory of today’s Austrian state of Carinthia.
