The California coast offers a number of different avenues for exploration. Tidepools are one of the most beautiful and easily accessible natural wonders of the coast. That accessibility brings with it pressures and the importance of protecting and preserving these fragile ecosystems. One of the best times to visit the tidepools is during a zero or negative low tide, when the rocks are exposed. At a tidepool north of Half Moon Bay, we were greeted by this starfish, who appeared to be doing a little dance in honor of our visit. Photo by @awc007
