Photo @Cory Richards on assignment with @intotheokavango for @ナショナルジオグラフィック. So we finally found enough water to float our Mekoros after eight days of pulling them...which was both good and bad. Photographer @jameskydd spent eight hours with team mates cutting our way through thick reeds and grass, often through dark channels of water too deep to stand in. It was taxing and spooky work...because while we haven't seen any crocodiles, we know they are present. We also know that pythons enjoy this habitat as we spotted a medium sized one today as we swam and chopped through the mess. All told, we made another 2km of progress down the Cuito River in the Angolan Highlands today...roughly the same amount of headway we were making per day when we were pulling the boats overland. It's hard to say which method is harder. That said, the mental strain of swimming into dark corridors has left all of us slightly exhausted. More tomorrow!
