An undisturbed hand, which was clutching a fragment of crimson fabric was uncovered before my eyes while working on a archeological dig in #Huarmey #Peru. The #archeologist, @ナショナルジオグラフィック photo editor @Kim_Hubbard and I were privileged to watch as this 1000 year old mummified hand was discovered.

I’m always amazing to see something that has not been seen in over 1,000 years or more come back to “life”. I made this picture in the first hour of my first trip to the dig. Sometimes the best stuff is right in front of you, right off the bat.

I just heard that this image was selected as one of the winning entries in the 2015 Communicate Arts photo contest. This is part of the amazing opportunities that I have had as a photographer for National Geographic.

This coming Tuesday, April 21st, I will be speaking @ナショナルジオグラフィック headquarters for an @NatGeoLive event about my work as a photographer for the magazine, and how I improved my skill set to make myself attractive to the magazine.
