A trio wanders across the sand on the Leblon Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Go to @mattiasklumofficial to see one of my favourite beaches in the Mata Atlantica! Here, in this city in 1992, worldleaders gathered at the U.N. Earth Summit to carry-through what became the first serious effort to promote sustainable development. This is where the U.N. conventions on climate change, biodiversity, and desertification were born. This is where the Agenda 21 was established. Twenty years later, in June, 2012, world leaders (and I ) gathered here again at the U.N. Rio+20 Summit, knowing that we have now all entered the Anthropocene and that the world needs a great transition to sustainability to ensure prosperity.
