"Celebrities generally expect a shoot to take very little of their time. They arrive and we run them through set-ups, which have been pre-lit. But when #Questlove got to this shoot, I decided to change one of the shots. This was instantly stressful. My assistant and I began scrambling. The best place for the light to be out of the shot was behind a bar counter. Watching the spinning ceiling fan, I maneuvered the light stand behind the bar while looking up to ensure I didn’t clip it. Suddenly I was falling. What was floor before now was an open trapdoor (to lower kegs into the basement). I fell eight feet down into darkness. I crawled out of the hole a bit bloodied. Thinking the shoot was surely over, I told Questlove that we had what we needed from the first set up, and if he had to bolt, that was cool.
