They will stay until late summer and raise their youngs in a dense colony on the steep west-facing cliff walls of the island. Sometimes a bird of prey visits the colony and a black cloud of birds fly up in the sky. They circle in the air for a couple of minutes and when the danger is over, land on the cliffs again.
In the last decades, the number of guillemots have decreased drastically along the Norwegian coast, because they do not manage to raise their youngs due to lack of food. However, their population on Hornøya is still stable. @thephotosociety
