Starting today, all our museums will prohibit the use of "#selfie sticks." We encourage you to take selfies--just leave the stick in your bag.

ETA: For the safety of our visitors and collections, the Smithsonian prohibits the use of tripods or monopods in our museums and gardens. Selfie sticks are now included in this policy.

This is a preventive measure to protect visitors and objects, especially during crowded conditions.
