Marianne Golon (director of photography at the @Washingtonpost) interviews Jean-Francois LeRoy, founder of #VisaPourLimage, the largest photojournalism festival in Perpignan, France.
It was a wide-ranging conversation dealing with the large number of photojournalist casualties in the last few years and media’s responsibility to help and protect young photojournalists. The image behind the two is by #TimHetherington, who was killed in #Libya on April 20th 2012 in a rocket attack during the #ArabSpring that also killed #ChrisHondros and severely injured French photojournalist #GuyMartin and @MichaelChristopherBrown.
Hetherington’s photo is of a young boy in #WestAfrica who made his own soccer ball out of cloth rags.
