We regret to inform our dear friends that former Team Meli and Taj legend, Gholam Hossein Mazloumi has lost his battle with cancer. Mazloumi helped Esteghlal become champions of Asia in 1970 and won the Iranian league in 1971 and 1975. He was also the back to back top goal scorer of the Iranian league in 1974 and 1975. Gholam Hossein was an integral part of Iran's 1972 and 1976 Asian Cup winning team as well as the 1974 Asian Games. Mazloumi also helped guide Iran to the quarter finals of the 1976 Olympics on Montreal by scoring the game winning goal against Cuba in the group stages. He scored 37 goals in just 48 matches for Iran, one of the best goal per match ratios in history.
