World Food Day — As our population grows, how will we feed ourselves in an affordable, environmentally balanced, healthy way?

I took this photograph a few years back at an electronics factory in southern China for the @ナショナルジオグラフィック story, End of Plenty. The factories canteen feeds over 600 workers three meals a day. Traveling to nine counties to document how soaring food prices were effecting our ability to feed ourselves, this simple yet poignant still life illustrated the reality of our collective importance for food and need to feed a population that by 2050 will reach 9 billion fellow human beings.
