@KenLacovara, from #DrexelUniversity poses with 22 tail vertebrae (out of 32) of the massive sauropod #Dreadnoughtus schrani. This dinosaur has the largest calculable weight of any known land animal. #Dreadnoughtus is the most complete of the giant #titanosaurs yet to be found.

The announcement was published Sep. 4th 2014 in the journal #Nature, in the Scientific Reports online section. The Titanosaurian Sauropod dinosaurs were the most diverse and abundant large-bodied herbivores in the southern continents during the final 30 million years of the Mesozoic Era. Despite it’s estimated weight of 59.3 metric tons, the bone histology of the dinosaur reveals that this individual was still growing at the time of death.
