iPhone photo by @stevewinterphoto at the Shembe festival as part of my worldwide leopard story for @ナショナルジオグラフィック. Every Sunday in July, 1000s of Zulus dance together dressed in leopard skins. A project headed by Tristan Dickerson from Panthera is manufacturing and distributing faux skins in an attempt to conserve leopards. It is estimated that 20% of skins now worn at Shembe are faux.
