These are the Santa Marta Favelas in Rio de Janeiro, painted by artist duo Haas & Hahn. The two artists work with the locals to beautify the favelas, painting building facades and hillsides. Their vibrant work gives a voice to the community. “We help people transform their neighborhood from a place seen as negative into a place that is able to communicate its creativity, beauty, and innovation.” Haas & Hahn will join us at #TEDGlobal in October to give a #TEDTalk about the Favela Painting Project.
