"Sawfish NOT swordfish" When I tell people I have been photographing a story on sawfish for the past 3 years I normally get blank stares or they tell me that "swordfish" steak is their favorite seafood. Sawfish however are close relatives to sharks and rays and can grow to 23 feet (7m) long and weigh over 5,500 pounds (2,500kg). They sport a unique rostrum, a beaklike appendage nearly 7 feet (2 m) long adorned with sawlike projections. The scientists that have been so critical in helping me take
photographs of these elusive fish have just published the seminal
