John Quinn has been following the Open National Championships since 1962. At 86, he went through great lengths to find the perfect spot to watch Court 1 here at the #USAVopen in Phoenix.
“When I came out here to Phoenix my bladder stopped working. I went to the hospital and got a catheter put in. It’s been a rough trip. My car broke down too and it’s brand new! I’ve spent a lot of money watching volleyball through the years.”
That’s our Olympic Gold Medalist Lloy Ball on the court.
“I watched Lloy Ball yesterday. He puts the ball so still and high up there, it’s like the ball is saying ‘hit me, hit me.’ Another reason why Lloy is so good is that he is 6’8’’ and he’s very effective at blocking.”
What do you love about coming to Nationals?
“Watch tonight, court 1 of the PVL Championship. It’s going to be packed. This entire area will be full of fans and other athletes watching. I can’t leave my seat. I’ll be here all day waiting.
