Photo: @melissafarlow | Ten-day old Texas plays in his nursery. He is an orphaned foal whose mother abandoned him. He came from the Lockwood herd of wild horses in Nevada. He nearly died but the frisky baby responded quickly to 24-hour nursing from Palomino Honeybandit Armstrong who specializes in critical, injured and/or neonatal orphan foal care.
Texas suffered from scours and had a mysterious virus/bug, which could explain why he was abandoned. He was terrified of other horses because the wild band attacked him but is becoming more confident and even is starting to interact with other equine. He will return to Nevada where and cared for by Karen Vineis, who originally contacted Palomino for his critical care.
