[EPILEPSY AWARENESS DAY – MARCH 26TH] You may remember last year we ran a campaign titled #RainbowsForAliyah - an initiative to raise money for the Palliative Care Unit at the Princess Margaret Hospital For Children. It was done so in loving memory of a beautiful little girl called Aliyah who loved rainbows, who after fighting very hard against epilepsy for her eight years of life, lost the battle when pneumonia left her too weak to fight both. I have been blessed to be able to stay in touch with Aliyah's beautiful family & have been lucky enough to receive some amazing drawings & letters from Aliyah's little sisters, Miss 7 & Miss 4. Miss 7 only turned 7 recently – And what she did for her birthday still gives me goosebumps, and eternal amounts of admiration for her & the woman I know she will become. At her birthday party, she kindly requested that no one bring presents, instead, in place of a gift she would like a small donation, as she wanted to give money to the Palliative Care Unit and the Respiratory Department at the Princess Margaret Hospital For Children, who took such good care of her sister Aliyah. Miss 7 raised $550 in donations & has inspired us here at #SamanthaWills (in more ways then one!). All proceeds from the sale of these lilac (Purple is the official colour for Epilepsy Awareness day) Bohemian Bardot Ring's today will be donated to the Palliative Care Unit and the Respiratory Departmental the Princess Margaret Hospital For Children, in Miss 7's name. For a 7 year old to take such a selfless initiative to give back & carry on the legacy of her sister, we are inspired & moved & have no doubt she will go on to do great things in her life that will see her make change for the better in this world. This March 26th, we ask that you take a moment to remember those who have fought & are fighting against Epilepsy. To show your support to those people & their families, photograph something purple this Wednesday, March 26th and use the hashtag #RainbowsForAliyah – This post is made in loving memory of Aliyah & Matt, and for their families who we stand with in raising money & awareness of the research & treatment of care for Epilepsy. - SWx
