Are you afraid of “Ghosts”

This #Panerai PAM237 “Ghost” edition is one of the harder models to find these days. 400 units were released in 2005 and were never included in any catalogue or release documentation, hence the “Ghost” nickname it received. It looks very much like the PAM88 with the exception of the sub dials being the dial color rather than the silver color that we see on the more common PAM88.

Even though only 400 were made this model was not a special edition. There a lot of rumors that have gone around to why they were only made for one year. Some believe there were extra black dials that needed to be used and this model came about and some believe it was an error in manufacturing and instead of discarding the pieces, they were given a new model number and sold. There has never been any official word on it so that part is speculation pieced together by Ristis all over the world. Reading up on it a boutique GM said a direct quote from Bonati was “They are all gone and no more will be made” So you can take it for what it’s worth.

All in all it’s a unique piece and I personally like it more than the 88. Thought I would share a little back story about it.
