But the plight of the Thai elephant is complicated. Originally, they were used as working animals, primarily in the logging industry. Today, many are used for tourist trekking and rides, which puts a lot of strain on these magnificent creatures. Rescue groups and other organizations are working to care and rehabilitate animals that are abandoned, usually due to injuries. Elephants are highly intelligent and should not be exploited. #elephants #thailand @thephotosociety
