Weekend Hashtag Project: #WHPfamilyportrait

The goal this weekend is to stage and capture a portrait of your family, however you choose to define it. Some tips to get you started: Look for natural, soft light. Seek out rooms that receive lots of window light or take your family on a little trip outside for your photo. Let your family's personalities shine! Use your setting, arrangement and even props to help your group express themselves. This is always easier when people are relaxed, so try to keep them talking and laughing as you set up your shots. Play with posing. Arrange people at different heights to keep your portrait dynamic, and try to keep people in poses that feel and look natural. Finally, Remember that "family" is what you make it. Whether it's your close relatives, extended family, best friends or even your pets—who goes in your family portrait is entirely up to you.
