"Pinaree Sanpitak: Hanging by a Thread" opens today! Bangkok-based artist, Sanpitak's work consists of hammocks woven from textiles known as paa-lai. When Thailand suffered severe floods during the 2011 monsoon season, royal-sponsored relief efforts included the distribution of these cloths. Sanpitak began working with paa-lai when the floods forced her to abandon her studio and seek alternative materials for her art practice.
