With the "prickly pear" cactus in full bloom in South Texas, the bees, ants and a host of other insects are drawn to the nectar. This bee spent a full 15 minutes, diving into the depths of the flower, pausing only to guard it. When another bee tried to invade the blossom, a fight would ensue and the invader was driven out in seconds. Cactus flowers have always been one of my spring time favorites in Texas, blooming in a bright neon yellow and this hue of orange. Photo by @kengeiger
