This shot reveals so much about the geologic story of #Glacier #NationalPark. The lakebed is filled with small colored #rocks that are the record of passed ages. The greens of the #Appekunny formation and the reds of the #Grinnel, are side by side with the tans of the very ancient #Altyn formation and the much younger #Siyeh. All of them bits of the uplift that lies in the distance. The #lake itself is the result of the powerful #glaciers that once covered the #park and carved the #mountains into the tiny multicolored gems that disappear into the depths of the lake. #montana #publiclands #nationalparks #landscape #beauty #bestoftheday #westglacier
