The turquoise settling ponds of a potash mine in central Utah. Mined from thousands of feet below the surface of the Utah desert, potash is used for fertilizer. The process uses Colorado River water dyed blue and mixed with the potash to speed up the evaporation in the settling process. Just one of many demands on the heavily strained Colorado River.
