It started quite unconsciously four years ago when I was researching scarification practices trying to figure out why anyone would do that and why I find it both confusing and so beautiful. I loved learning that maybe my western idea of scars could use different perspective. That what gets taken away can be beautiful that what heals and is left behind can have greater beauty and value then in its original state. Im so grateful to this medium it has been such an incredible tool to research and understand my ancestral history that would have otherwise been too uncomfortable to to dig into.
