No auction has ever before attempted to tell the history of music over almost 1200 years of human civilization.
The Schøyen Collection was begun in the 1920s by M. O. Schøyen, father of Martin Schøyen, and is today one of the most extensive private collections ever assembled.
This auction reflects the wider collection's vast scope, and includes examples of music from the early Middle Ages all the way through to the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern periods.
