This morning I knew something was going on with Gus, and I checked his heart rate but that wasn't it. By the time noon rolled around after watching him for a few hours, I thought he was struggling to poop. I gave him some pumpkin and he promptly puked it up.I called UCD emergency and asked if I should bring him in, and they said that's often a sign of urinary blockage. Bingo. He's going to be in the hospital for a bit, but they successfully inserted the catheter, and tests seem to indicate this is an idiopathic blockage brought on by environmental stresses. There's no indication that he has stones according to the X-ray I guess it was, so probably no need for surgery. His kidney values were fine and normal and his urine was "unremarkable". The doctor said his urethra felt "sandy" when they cleared it out. Please, if any of you have experienced this kind of thing, the thing I'm most worried about is reoccurrence. Please tell me your experiences.
