ー花を媒介とした、亡き祖母との対話ー
「flowers」は奥山由之の亡き祖母が暮らしていた家で長年撮影されてきたシリーズです。この場所をいま自身のアトリエとする奥山は、射し込む光に、庭に揺れる草木に、生前の祖母を偲び、多くはなかった会話をあらためて紡ぐように、花を撮り重ねてきました。
写真集の再販に合わせて開かれる本展では、「flowers」から選ばれた写真と映像をそれぞれ異なるフレームやしつらえを施しPURPLEの空間に展開します。物として立ち現れるこれらのイメージには、本作の立体的な奥行き、眼差しや感覚の混交に、幅のある時間・歴史が息づくことでしょう。

《Excerpt from the Press Release》
ーConversations with my late grandmother through flowersー
"flowers" is a series by Yoshiyuki Okuyama that has been photographed over three years in the house where his late grandmother lived. Now using this place as his atelier, Okuyama recalls his grandmother from the rays of light that enter the room, and the plants swaying in the garden, and as if weaving the few conversations they had once again, he has continuously captured flowers. For this exhibition, coinciding with the photo book's re-release, photos and videos chosen from "flowers" will be presented at PURPLE, each framed and arranged in different ways. These tangible images, displayed as objects, may evoke a sense of depth, a mix of perspectives and sensations, breathing a broad sense of time and history into the work.
