Here’s a few things I did to feel safe on my first solo camping trip:

⛺️ Slept in the back of the @Subaru of America #OutbackWilderness. I was comfortable and felt safe knowing the doors were locked.
⛺️ Kept the driver seat empty and my gear under the back seats and in the passenger seat so if I felt uneasy, I could drive away quickly and without having to get out of the car.
⛺️ Camped at a place I was familiar with and knew I could easily navigate in the dark.
⛺️ Brought quality gear that would keep me warm and comfortable at night. By trading in some old gear through @REI’s Re/Supply program, I used the gift card I got to upgrade my camp sleeping gear. I got a sleeping pad and a cozy blanket I could share with my dog!
⛺️ Last and most important, I let my husband know exactly where I was camping and when to expect me home. I had my satellite communicator by me as well in case I needed to update him on any changes.
