Dozens of people are facing criminal charges after authorities said groups of thieves smashed their way into stores in several areas of Philadelphia on Tuesday and fled with merchandise.

The Philadelphia district attorney's office said Wednesday that at least 30 people have been charged so far and that the police department made at least 52 arrests.
