when i was 16, i stumbled upon something called 'the drowned man'. with no prior knowledge or notion of what 'immersive theatre' meant, it was an experience that sincerely changed my life. it was bioshock, it was twin peaks, it was the wickerman. it was all of the above, and it was something entirely new.

for years, i would try to describe to friends who didn't go why it was so special, what the punch drunk secret sauce is. but it was impossible. when i heard about the burnt city, their first full-fledged production in london for almost a decade, the spark i felt as a teenager was reignited.

for me, the burnt city was a vast puzzle and a social hub. imagine if your local cafe had lore. after attending almost 30 performances, i am gutted to say goodbye but grateful for the memories.
