“What we’re doing at Sungai Watch is the hardest type of recycling because the trash is so dirty. People throw it in a landfill, it sits there for months or years, falls into the river, gets combined
with mud, and then that’s when we collect it.”

Partnering with @sungaiwatch has meant the ability to create 20 barriers in Banyuwangi, extracting around 500 to 1000 kilos of plastics per day. However, this work is just the tip of the iceberg as through the mangroves natural barrier they have pulled over 200,000 kilos to date excluding those 20 barriers.

@sambencheghib and the @sungaiwatch team’s mission is to stop the platstic pollution at the source before it reaches rivers in the first place.
