Instagramさんのインスタグラム写真 - (InstagramInstagram)「Interdisciplinary sculptor @broakes (Brian Oakes) makes analog electronic artworks out of custom printed circuit boards (PCBs) that produce real-time light and sound systems. “Someone once described my work as existing somewhere between a computer-generated orchid and a screaming circuit phantom. I think of it as somewhere between ‘hyper robotic to the point of natural’ and ‘so organic that it becomes mechanical.’” Brian says his sculptures are a journey from “ephemeral promise” to “material destiny,” which begins with channeling his subconscious. “I start by practicing the surrealist tradition of automatic drawing, where you let the material of the drawing take control. The end product is a bouquet of circuit boards composed of ‘permanent’ materials. My recent series is mostly freestanding pieces or works that hang from the ceiling. A lot of people call the freestanding works ‘creatures’ and the hanging works ‘chandeliers.’ I think of them more as physical systems or vessels. Most of the pieces present a structure for random sampling and random recording.
