Crystal Vein FA (8B)

Location: Rila, Bulgaria

@emiliyank has been kind enough to show me an incredible bouldering area with tons of world class established lines and projects. The gneiss quality resembles Ticino, CH. The overall scene is beautiful. The boulders sit in a lush green forest with a river flowing through. Large granite walls tower above the forest. Temps have been somewhat pleasant for August, but I bet fall is prime time here.

I spent Global Climbing Day doing this new line that climbs through this incredible crystal vein rail like feature out a 50 degree roof. The movement on this thing is all time.

Honestly, I would have not expected to be climbing in Bulgaria. Feel grateful to have dedicated my life to climbing. The places it has taken me and friends I have made along the way has shaped me into the person I am today. Climbing has taught me how to deal with failure and stress and turn it into power and success. Hope everyone had an awesome day climbing. We’re all fortunate to have found an activity that teaches us so much about our human.
