Pauline Caulfield’s home and studio has long been an artist’s haven. Before she and her ex-husband, the late painter and printmaker Patrick Caulfield, began renting their red-brick cottage in north London nearly 50 years ago, it belonged to, among others, the book illustrator Arthur Rackham, the abstract artist John Hoyland and the Pre-Raphaelite painter John William Waterhouse. It was already a place of creative legacy – and now it’s one that Pauline has become a part of.
Much like her large-scale hand-printed wall hangings, Pauline’s interiors are full of pattern, personality and punchy tones aplenty – as we discover for our new episode of Seven Wonders.
