Breast milk is a baby's best nutrition and first defence against infection.

In Niger, Halisa is listening to a UNICEF-supported health worker about the different ways she can give her children the healthiest start in life - including exclusive breastfeeding without food or water for the first six months.

“My children are all vaccinated and I will certainly exclusively breastfeed my youngest after advice,” says Halisa.

To support mother and baby health, UNICEF and WHO are training health workers on breastfeeding best practice across the world.
