I’m staring at a stack of blank papers with a blank mind, pen at the ready trying to make out what’s in my head. I’m counting on something to hit me but I’m unsure what my brain is trying to spit out. I can feel something is missing, I’m searching myself and I feel that I’m looking for more, not more for me but for dance. All I knew is that I had a vision and wanted to help others like me. To build a bridge for people to connect, a calling for other movement lovers. It didn’t matter what type of movement it was, the idea that “we should run towards the things that make us feel alive.” Mine was dance and that’s what moves me, I wanted others to ask “what moves you?” I thought to myself, “dance isn’t a hobby, movement is a lifestyle.” I wrote it down immediately on that stack of papers, then I wrote movement on one side and lifestyle on the other. As soon as I saw it written from pen to paper my mind could see the words come alive. My imagination brought the two words slowly together like an amoeba moving across the paper, it intertwined to become one phrase. Movement Lifestyle, “mL” as I like to call it was born.
